mine had swollen eyes only but some other birds in my flock were breathing weird so I knew it was respiratory. its perfectly safe for birds that don't have it so putting it in the water is fine. its most effective if you put it on there beak every day which i find is easiest at night.Thank you so much
I don't notice any other symptoms. Was yours only swollen lids too? If I treat in the water, can I leave her with the group?
Hi, No other symptoms and I haven't seen any mosquitos around. I do have a pesky chicken that sometime pecks the others. Perhaps that the scabbing?Do you see any bubbles or foam, or crusty drainage from either eye? Do you have any mosquitoes out now? There is a scab on the comb, and possible ones on the face, so I was wondering about possible fowl pox. Mosquitoes carry the fowl pox virus. If she doesn’t have pox, could she have been pecked around the eyes and comb?
I'm checking them all again and will use the VetRX but my local stores said they don't carry it. ugh I'm ordering online and hoping it comes fast. I'll go get the Terramycin to start treatment. My vet doesn't treat chickens so...mine had swollen eyes only but some other birds in my flock were breathing weird so I knew it was respiratory. its perfectly safe for birds that don't have it so putting it in the water is fine. its most effective if you put it on there beak every day which i find is easiest at night.
If it isn't respiratory and is some sort of bacterial infection in the eye than Terramycin would be used for that.
I found this video. Is this how you put it on your chicken?I had a similar problem. This stuff works miracles for raspatory problems if that's what this is. can be bought at basically every feed store or online <3
