Master thread on Bumble Foot?

I don’t believe these are bumbles. Bumblefoot is when an injury on the foot becomes infected with bacteria. As it progresses, it’ll look swollen / calloused and will have a dark spot in the center.

I cannot help or advise on what’s actually happening, but casportpony is great help. @ruthhope and @Jenbirdee may be able to help as well.
thank you - I think that I had seen some photos of bumbles that weren't really bumbles then. I'm sort of relieved it's not bumble foot, but of course, that leaves me in the mystery. I'll try to take him to a vet next week, but historically even our local vets who seemingly know ducks, have never been any help with my duck injuries 😞

The two joints you pointed out do look a little swollen, but they don't look like "bumbles". You could try wrapping both feet with a padding and see if that helps.

Not bumble foot. A video of him trying to walk would be very helpful.. have you had snow and ice where you live?
I presently have one duck in my hospital room who has the same symptoms you describe, and what happened to her was she slipped running on icy ground that was uneven. At first, I thought it was her hip joint because she wasn’t moving any of her leg just hopping on the other foot and dragging the injured leg behind her. I put her in lukewarm Epson salt bath soaks and gave her liquid Bcomplex one ML daily. Also giving her glucosamine chondroitin, and meloxicam for pain. She was not eating., so I had to start tube feeding her, which actually made it easier to give her the medication’s mixed in with the soupy feed.
I did this daily and after a few days I noticed she was able to move the top half of her leg but not her foot at all. My best guess was that she sprained the foot perhaps all the way backwards. I could not really see any swelling anywhere when I examined her and re-examined her daily, but I do see a little discoloration in what I guess we would call the ankle joint where the foot connects to the leg., so I ordered a foot brace, but it took 10 days to arrive. In the meantime I kept giving her some swimming time in my bathtub each day in lukewarm water plus tube feeding her twice a day and giving her the medication’s and supplements. And oh I forgot to mention I also added 1/2 ML of rooster, booster, poultry cell or nutridrench once daily. But I tube fed her twice daily and gave her a snack of handful of peas in a small dish of water and at first, she only ate one Pea and then after a few days she ate a few peas and now she eats several peas.
Did I mention that I have a friend duck in the hospital room with her at all times? I have been rotating different ones of her friend Ducks in and out of hospital room to be her companion.
In the meantime, about six days ago, the foot brace came and we started using it, now she is slowly adjusting to it, and starting to use it a little bit for balance when she is standing still, but I have still not seen her taken actual step with it. She’s been hopping and or trying to fly to get away from me when I go in the hospital room to pick her up to tube feed her.
We will see how she does and I will let you know it has almost been four weeks since her injury was January 19. If you have any questions or want to try any of these things, I can give you more information even pictures. For example, here is the liquid be complex that I myself and many others here recommend

And here is how to give meds to ducks
(BRB I have to finish this post and start another one to go and get the link first)

This is the splint I got from Etsy there are several different sizes. My duck is small so I got the 2“ x 2“ x 2 inch size the yellow one but I think I should’ve got the 3“ x 3“ I still was able to use the smaller one by adding a piece of plastic to the bottom though https://www.etsy.com/listing/873287571/?ref=share_ios_native_control

And here is my duck after I wrapped her foot to the splint

also what is his diet
please and
Has he been eating?
If he is not eating, you will need to start tube feeding right away they can die in a matter of days if they stop eating.
ETA - an X-ray would be very helpful if you can get that from a vet and they can also give pain meds (like meloxicam)
I would have taken my duck to an avian vet if I could afford it.
It’s very helpful to know if it’s broken and also to get the meds. Years ago I had a beautiful blue runner duck who broke her leg in the hip area and I was able to afford the Vet then and he suggested a very expensive risky surgery, which I told him I could not afford so he sent me home with her with pain and inflammation meds, I tube fed her for six weeks, gave her meds and the vitamins that I mentioned, and she made a full recovery. ❤️‍🩹

Thank you so much for all of the time you took responding to my duck troubles here; so kind. I now think that it may be the joint that most of us would think of as his knee. Tomorrow I'll see if I can get him to walk so I can film him.
He is off his feed, but tonight I got him to eat some pasta and peas. I was on the verge of tube feeding him, which I do have experience with, but of course hoped to not have to do.
I'm giving him some meloxicam (human tablets cut tiny and hidden in peas) and I've massaged hydrogel into his leg so far. I will look into some of your other tricks, thank you again so much 💜

Ok great - maybe see if he will eat some mash, and give some vitamins to keep his nutrition up. I think the most important thing for helping duck legs is the niacin, and the Durvet liquid B complex has 100 mg of niacinamide per one ML
You can also use human niacin pills but it has to not be time released or flush free
I also regularly supplement my Ducks feed with nutritional yeast to supply extra niacin, even though I feed them duck specific feed.
How much does he weigh? Be careful with the human meloxicam tablets you want to give him the correct dosage

Is this Gemini’s reply? There are a few things I would suggest though having experience that AI does not know. Would you please start adding a disclaimer to these AI copy and pasted posts? Something like , “ I asked Gemini ( or whatever other AI you are using) and this is what it said” And then paste the reply.

I did some research on Google and asked AI to check the facts and proofread the text so Jenbirdee would know better and be the best at ducks!
