MJ's little flock

Yes. But who imprisoned Blossom?!
Me, and I've been in hot water because of it all day. She had her senior cat day stay at the vet today. Turns out she has a problem with her molars, but more urgently she has the beginnings of hyperthyriodism. I've been reading up and making calls, and I think she's going to have radiotherapy, which is a 'one and done' cure for 98% of cats. She'll have to be in the isolation ward for a week, which will be a big change for her, but hopefully she will adjust.

I took two of mine to the vet who thought Nightshade might have hyperthyroidism and Falafel diabetes.
In about 6-8 months Nightshade has lost 5lbs and Falafel has gained a similar amount.
I think the explanation is bullying rather than medical.

Wow! I assume their diagnosis was not based on thyroxine levels in the blood. Blossom is 4nmol/litre above normal, which is only just high. A year ago she was only just within normal range. So it appears her thyroid is not functioning as it should.

The blood results showed no abnormality so now the vet shares my theory of the case.
I must say Nightshade looks good trimmed down. Now I have to figure how to stop his sister eating all his food.

No doubt her answer is "just put double dinners down for us 😉"

It was a lovely moonrise this afternoon.

The sunset wasn't particularly special.

The mozzies are out in their droves, so I've lit a coil for the hens.

It seems to deter the mozzies, so I'm hopeful the hens will have at least a few hours without being bitten.
