My flock is such a odd yet awesome one I have mixed in new flock of 3 with a old flock of 7 the 3 are two EE and a BCM my old flock is 7 layers and they was a bit of a challenge for the new flock my 1 EE knows her place the other to are still a bit skeptical of the old flock and are still very cautious of the old flock but the pecking order has been light . It's funny because the one EE that mingles with the old flock is the smaller of the 3 but holds her own very well . I got the 3 new ones late July still don't seem to be laying I am thinking maybe the cold is hindered the laying but this is only my second year owning a flock . I am just amazed at all that I've been learning from health to pecking order . I put a lot of thought into building the coop and run and still learning better ways of building as well as health and understanding what's chicken do and like it's been fantastic journey so far a bit scary at times but I wouldn't change this for the world .I am a proud poppa of 10 and I can't wait to the future of being such .I just wish there was a program or group near me so I could meet other people and build a close community close to home .living in Nova Scotia on the out skirts of HRM wondering if anyone is close by

Glad you are enjoying your flock. Chickens are a lot of fun and very entertaining.

I recommend you put your general location in your profile to make connecting a little easier. It also makes answering your questions easier as climate/location often makes a difference.

Here is a general Canada chicken-owner discussion thread. Not sure if there is something more specific for Nova Scotia, but I'd recommend introducing yourself there and ask if there is something more local.
