Moving a LARGE rose bush any tips?

It is just starting to try to get leaves. So far just the tiny nubs are showing.

I do prune it some each year. Mostly to remove dead branches and spent blooms really.
This will give me a chance to really go through and take out stuff I couldn't get to without a blood letting. I am actually looking forward to that.

I will be brutal and take it down to 18(ish) inches. If it doesn't make it I at least know the variety so can get another.

That sounds good, you do what is right for your particular rose as you know how well it grows where you're at. Normally when you relocate an established plant, some roots get severed as you try to cut it out of the ground. Less roots means it can't provide what the top growth needs, so removing some back, or thinning out is necessary to help the plant get reestablished.

The Quick Start is a rooting fertilizer so :fl that it works.
