UPDATE:
We did use the free chain link fencing. 6' high fence and 4' (folded over) is bent on the ground on the outside and secured with landscape staples. The vegetation is already growing through. It's very secure, so I don't think a dog could get under it.
We've also wrapped the bottom 2.5' with chicken wire on the inside trenched into the ground about 8".
It was a BIG job though...
