My australian spotted bantam ducks (pic intensive)

I am posting a thread alone because I took a lot of pictures and don't want to bog down another post with them.

The boy I hatched from Poorridgeranch and the girls are from Holderreads. Girls from April, boy I hatched in June. They are breeding, but no eggs, yet. Hopefully in Spring!

I absolutely adore these ducks. Cannot say enough good about them. The drake is very bonded to us since he was a single hatchling and everyone that comes tries to get us to sell them to him. He will be here until his final days, though! He is very much a pet!

Kanga (aka Kanga-Roo or Kanga-Woo as DD calls him)

Isn't he beautiful? He'll greet us at the door, eat of our hands, just a sweetheart.

Beautiful ducks!
What size are they? I have call ducks and I was wondering how the size compares?

They are definitely bigger than the call ducks that I had. I think these are supposed to be 2-2.2 pounds full grown, if I'm not mistaken. They definitely do not feel that heavy to me, but not sure any of them would cooperate for me to weigh them. ;-)

I will say, I wanted ducks for so long and then saw bantams and went "AHA! I DO have room for THOSE!" hehe We just have a small place. And my theory on bantams is, the smaller, the more I can get. We had 12 at one point, but that was definitely too many for my space. Actually, all we have left are what we love so we have a flock of 14 cochins and these 4 ducks (in seperate pens). Just what I love. I knew it was going to be a crazy year so I downsized to only what I was so attached to, I knew I'd cry if I got rid of them! hehe

I told DH I will NEVER not have these ducks. I love them that much. They provide hours of enjoyment and are just so fun. We get so many comments and compliments when we have visitors, etc. When we pull in the yard, they quack to say hello. It sounds like laughing so DD will say "They're laughing at you mommy!"

I loved the look of the Call ducks that I had and although the Aussie's are talkative, they are NOT as loud and chattery as the Calls were that I had. Just my personal experience with them, of course.

My favorite time with them is right after we change their pool water. Oh how fun to watch them flipping and flying and diving and just being silly little crazy things! (And soaking us if we dare get close enough! ;-) )

Yes, they always give me a shower when I give them fresh water.
I have 8 calls using a sandbox for a bathtub! Too cute!

the kiddo's are beautifull.. What colors are the females etc.. I think you have a greenheaded male right??? are the females blue, silver, or green.. headed ones..

I'm hoping to get some ducklings in later in june or july but if not if too hot to ship then may have to find someone I can purchase hatching eggs from..

ohh I just love the pictures.. !!!!!!!

I'm thinking also since they are so small I can have more than just a few.. Hoping 10 won't be too many... lol.. but may have to raise them up and keep the one's I like the most and rehome the rest.

The male is a green head. I am not sure what color the girls are considered. The males are easier to figure out b/c...well...their heads are that color!
