My dog keeps licking my other dogs ears. Help

Grits I used to have a siamese that would suck your earlobe almost like a pacifier. He loved it. It made him feel great. So I just let him until it started to tickle. Then I would stop him. Dogs licking each others ears is like monkeys grooming each other.

I always understood that dogs licking another's ears was a special sign of affection. They are telling each other they love each other.

I have no idea what a cat would be telling you when it licks ears.

Anyway, they dogs are just socializing in their own way and no harm is being done, correct? Let them go ahead and do it. Just try to ignore it.

sorry to cut in, but if it is yeast you don't want the other dog adding moisture to the ear by licking it. Vet meds usually clear it up quick. I'd use bitter apple or even try vineger (unless she likes it) to keep the other dog away. If that doesn't work, a little firm dicipline even on a small dog will go a long way.. I have a problem ear dog as well, we also have been told his food can contribute to yeast so maybe you could consider changing his food.

Grits, you continue to awe and frighten me.

It's okay Buff. I frighten myself sometimes.

I am obsessed with keeping Jax's ears clean. I mean they are just so BIG. Can't have him advertising to the whole world that he has a bad mommy that lets his ears get dirty. So to my way of thinking KiKi the siamese is just doing me a favor.

I would do what the vet suggests and not worry about it. (I wrote another response, but it got lost).
Animals have cleaned each other's ears as long as animals have had ears (pretty sure).
I KNOW you take the best care of your dogs, so I'm not worried about mites and such.
My friend nicknamed one of her dogs "Doctor", because he licks all the ears in the house. No one seems to be having any ill effects. Lucky, considering his obsession.
You could always try "redirecting" his attention, if it really bothers you.
Good luck!

In our house, its considered a good day if you didn't have to tell any of the animals to get any of the other animals heads out of their mouth. We bypassed ear licking and graduated to chewing on each others faces.

That often occurs here after the ear licking sessions. Don't want to be putting someone's head in your mouth if their ears are dirty.

At least once a day I hear myself saying Jax! Give KiKi her head back!
