hi! yesterday i noticed my female pekin duck started squatting or lowering her head and freezing when i get close, even when she’s in her pool swimming… can someone tell me why this happens? she’s only about three months old, thank you!

Do you have other ducks or drakes? She may be squatting like she would for a drake. Can you get a picture?

Pekins do a head bobbing/nodding ritual with other ducks. I have a pekin who has taught a muscovy to nod heads with him! [Muscovy do not normally do the head bobbing] Your duck putting her head down rather than up and down is probably being submissive and the squatting is flattening her back for a drake to mount her.. She needs ducky friends!

Taking her to see a drake might not be helpful as ducks need to have see no touch time to get to know eachother, before they can be safely introduced. Visiting [coming and going] wouldn't work. If she's happy hanging out with your other pets, I suggest you hold off the introductions and get another duck as soon as you can
