My incubator Temperature dropped to 22c HELP!

Should one spray the eggs with water? I thought when trying to raise humidity, one would put in wet/damp towels/cloth/sponge in areas not touching the eggs. Curious.

Do not spray the eggs. To raise humidity increase the surface area of water. Some incubators have troughs in the bottom. Adding wash clothes or sponges can add more surface if their are not enough troughs. Without a gage it can be tough to tell the humidity. Hatching humidity should not be so high it causes condensation, but have a damp feel to the air.

Chicken eggs should never be sprayed.
However I had a broody hen who, once a day, jumped in the water bowl, soaked herself wet, and then went back to sitting on her eggs. It was freezing temperatures. All eggs hatched.
So if someone sprayed the eggs by mistake or because they didn't know better, it's not the end of the world.

So one chick is pipped through! there alive.

How do I increase humidity? the new incubator is an old one and can't tell me the %. I have sprayed water over the eggs, as i'm worried the shells are hard. I don't want the one egg which has pipped through to dry out.
You have pips! Great! The hatching eggs should help maintain the humidity. Don’t open the incubator, so the humidity doesn’t dip. It sounds like things are going fine right now. Keep updating. 🙂 The others are giving good advice about maintaining humidity.

@jtommers and @C Siena

I never spray my eggs with water (especially don’t do that when they’ve pipped). I used a damp paper towel to help raise humidity years ago, before I began using incubators with outside water-fill chambers. My suggestion is to invest in one for the future. Also, invest in thermometer/hygrometers (I use digital ones placed at egg-level). I use the Kebbonix 12-egg incubators. They’re reasonably priced and have been very reliable for my Serama hatches. With the type of incubators I use, I wouldn’t have to open the incubators at all (except to candle and remove egg- turners). 🙂 I also have a backup incubator for any possible malfunctions with the first one.

So the one egg has hatched, but doesn't look right. i can see a cord coming from its bum and not sure if i can see something yellow. its been 5hrs and its not stood up yet.

Did you assist at all? Is it flopping around some?
yes as it was skink wrapped but i left the bottom on the shell, and put it back in. it's freed its self from the rest. however i think it might of caused damage. it's trying to move, but i don't want to open the incubator as there's other eggs which haven't hatched. don't want to mess with the humidity.
