AWWW, HE’S BEAUTIFUL. I love that color. I’m sure his tail will come back. Shanti lost his entire tail too. It never grows crazy long but in the picture it’s still very short. He’ll never get a tail like yours though.

Here's my tiny little guy. He's got a ways to go before I can call him a rooster.

I may have at least three of his boys. He is really beautiful.

I only gave to pullets. One really nice the other has her days when she might try to peck me. Whenever she does this I give her a quick poke in the chest and she jumps back and has a look on her like, shoot, she's not taking any crap. She gets her attitude a lot less these days. I think if they know they can't get away with it they will eventually stop all together.

most of the time yes. I’ve once had a beautiful rooster that anyone could have taken a 2x4 to and they still would have gotten attacked. He was downright dangerous and incorrigible. My Wellsummer cross hen is a real hardhead too. The rooster is the only one who ever made a point with her. Even a big rooster like him had to take a full 2 minutes of major whooping her but before she gave in. Some are just really mean.

Other then having a small flock when I was a kid, these two hens I have now is my only real chicken experience. I never knew until joining this forum that roosters and hens could be that mean. I knew roosters could/would chase people etc but some of the stories on here about the real damage they can do I never knew. With hens, I thought they only got angry sometimes, when people took their eggs. It amazes me and hope I never get a mean one.
I hope your roosters payback did the trick with her.

I feel the same way. I am thankful my girls are all super friendly - except my Welsummer, who is neurotic and skittish. My two cockerels are great so far. I've read those horror stories, too, and they make me worry a lot. Fortunately, both of my boys are bantams. My hens can easily put them in their place.
