After having snakes and skunks getting into my baby chick pen, i decided to build one that I KNOW nothing can get into. This thing is solid! I used tiny tiny wire around the bottom and under neath a bit, to prevent digging. I built the bottom and the A frame out of pallets....and it is 4.5 ft wide and 4.5 feet deep. (i havent measured the height)

This will be used for my little chicks when they are big enough to go outside.
Just needs some paint, and a tin roof to keep water out, and we will be ready to go!!!
OH! And i will add the roosts today.

Very nice.

I never thought of keeping kids on grass. Do they take well to it? How often do you have to move them to keep them happy?

hahaha!!! they kept making me shut the door, they didnt want me to stand there and let the cold air in. LOL! They are whiny little peepers!

Thanks you guys!!! I appreciate it!

Usually the coops i make are super ugly and no one comments.

It is fine and strong looking too. I would add another duplicate vent in the other gable and a vent in the center of the roof. That is a tiny space and will get hot as hell itself inside in Arizona.

Hang a thermometer in there to see for yourself. I think that if I did one down there, I would just leave the gables about half open with a large window in each, covered with hardware cloth mesh like your vent is.

Chooks die of heat 100 to 1 over cold.
