My rooster, hades, had been lonely after his brother left him to go with all of my other chickens. I had tried to get them together but it didn’t work. I took out a gentle hen who was a golden laced wyodnette hen. The two bonded and he never mated with another hen and took extremely good care of her. Soon my dad bought a husky and she was quickly killed along with her sister. Hades was affected pretty badly, it’s been nearly a month and he hasn’t mated with any chicken. Every once in a while he looks like he’s going to attempt to mate with a hen but then just leaves all the hens alone instead. I feel like I should be concerned. Can anyone help me?

I am very sorry about the loss of your hens' death :hugs Maybe you could get him a new hen? I have never had a rooster who has bonded with a hen like this before.

As @oldhenlikesdogs said, just give him some time :hugs
I didn't say that, @theoldchick did, but I probably would've said that.

Him and his brother were close, but he didn’t let Hades close to the other hens. Hades’ brother eventually attacked a four year old boy trying to get his sister, Aphrodite, back with the flock and I was forced to kill him. Hades is now the leader, but he and the chickens aren’t used to it so everybody in the flock is freaking out. Other than that, he did start to bond a little with another one of my chickens which is good
