I think he caught his comb on the feeder pets a couple of weeks ago. He has also suffered frostbite. Although it has not been as cold here as it could be. Lows in single digits though (Vermont).
I have given him an open feeder so he doesn’t need to use the ports anymore. But it is either still injured or re-injured.

The hens do not peck at him, I have watch their behavior extensively.

Also he has blood on his foot. I haven’t investigated yet because I’m home alone and he’s somewhat aggressive. (Normal rooster behavior). I’m not sure if it’s from scratching or if he has another wound.

I’m just not sure what to do for him.

1. Do I need to keep him inside and let heal?
2. Do I need o clean off the blood? If so, how? He’s a rooster, not a mild hen.
3. If he’s in pain, should I give him medicine?
4. How can I prevent this?

1. I would leave him outside, so you don’t have to reintroduce him the hens.
2. and 3. I would use blu-kote on the blood and Vaseline on his comb
4. Vaseline will help with frostbite. As for the bleeding, are you positive there’s nothing else that could have caused this?
