Sadly I have another sick duck. I fear this is something insidious that is going to slowly creep through my flock....
I have seen some dark dark dark greenish blackish poop here and there in my flock, and the occasional pea greenish tan, but nothing consistent. Everyone else is acting normal except for my khaki, who was broody, and still acts that way (quacking loudly, ruffling up her feathers, pooping a lot) but she doesn't seem to be ill...
About a week ago now, all of my ducks seemed fine and then suddenly one morning my buff girl Tina couldn't walk. She has been favored by our drake and so I thought at first he injured her. I did actually find a broken toe, and it was swollen so I started her on Tylan 50. She seemed to be getting better throughout the Tylan treatment. She actually started standing, and seemed peppier, but her appetite was getting worse.
I did 5 days of Tylan injectable for her. The second day of her treatment she started pooping bright kelly green. It's almost blue-ish even. She seems very sleepy and almost confused at times, like maybe her aim is off or like she is kind of delirious. She won't eat still (this is 2 days out of treatment). She will dunk her head and drinks her water and she will even splash in a bath, but no food will interest her except meal worms (and hardly). She is still wobbly and falls over but stands a lot. She actually got better during the treatment for a bit, and then back downhill...Her head is not tucked in close, and her feathers are not ruffled but she is very skinny.
I have tried blending her food and feeding it and have gotten her to eat a bit. I have been giving electrolytes, vitamins, and probiotics in her water and have been giving her epsom salt baths. When she eats a bit, her poop isn't too watery and it looks digested, just very green.
I noticed she was getting skinny, it seemed, but she was acting completely normal. I thought maybe it was because she was being chased off her food by our drake (which is true) or that maybe she had worms so I used worming pellets for the whole flock a few times. The wormer obviously didn't help.
I'm stumped and watching her suffer is so heartbreaking. I am trying everything. Would it be worth it to try a different antibiotic? Baytril? Or does this sound viral? Does anyone else have any other suggestions? I am at a loss and would like to be prepared if another one gets sick....My poor Tina girl. She is so tired and still fighting...
