Nasty pile of worms?

We found this pile of "worms" on our sidewalk this morning. It's was a under an oak tree and we would love to know what they are! My husband wondered if our dog threw them up, but I don't think so...They were moving as a mass off the sidewalk towards the grass...






Is this something to worry about? The chickens were still in their pen this morning, so I know it didn't come from them. I would love to know what they are!!

It looks like tape worms to me. We had a dog that had them before and when the internal tape worm had babies the dog pooped what looked like the same thing out. You probably need to go ahead and worm the dog and possibly the chickens.

I took the worms to our vet and they said they were not "animal" worms - meaning that they did not come from an animal. She guessed they were tree worms or very young tree caterpillars...

I'm pretty sure I just found out what these are. I think they are fungus gnat larvae. Matches pictures.

Excreted tapeworm segments look more like grains of rice. If you see a bunch of these, you need to treat for tapeowrm. Here is a good pic:
