Honestly this is just for fun--I'm already pretty sure what's what but I'm gonna post these babies anyways because @Overo Mare needs more Cochin pics in her life!

So these are some babies that my broody Cochin got to 20 days, then I panicked and tried to move her to a safer area and she didn't want to get back on them. I put all 12 eggs in an incubator and all but one hatched! The hatching started the evening of Dec 12th and ended the morning of Dec 14th so they are approximately a little under 7 weeks old. All of them had the same sire, but different mothers. Rooster --> Red Cochin, Hens --> Welsummer, White Leghorn, SLW, or Red Cochin

These are Red Cochin x White Leghorn babies. They're in a box because I sold them today and wanted a picture before they went to their new home. Click the spoiler for my guesses--> Two left, pullets, right, cockerel

This one the kiddo has claimed. I'm not 100%, but I think they're Red Cochin x Welsummer. My guess -> pullet
IMG_20210128_152914.jpg

These two are full Red Cochins, I believe. These two it's hard to say, but my guess -> left PROBABLY a cockerel, but maybe a pullet. Right is a cockerel

There are 5 Red Cochin x SLW. I'm pretty sure there are 4 cockerels and 1 pullet...maybe. I'm thinking top left boys, top right boy, bottom left girl (it's hard to tell here, but this one has the lightest and smallest comb by far compared to everyone else, bottom right, boy.

So tell me what y'all think. Am I right? Or completely off?

Also, just for fun, pictures of my Cochin ladies, GoGo and Disco Boots. GoGo is the chonkier looking of the two:

Their fluff is a little lackluster right now cause it's been stupid wet for the last couple of months. I'm doing my best to keep them out of the mud but they do what they want for the most part, lol.

Your guesses seem to be about right, as far as I can tell.
It's annoying when there's that one chick that you just can't tell with, isn't there? Hemoglobin was like that -- I thought that she was a cockerel for months. Red face, shiny feathers, almost saddle feathers on her back... all false alarms. She is a she, and will hopefully be laying soon.
Your birds are all so cute!

I mostly agree with your guesses, I think you have all cockerels as far as the SLWxCochin goes though :'(

Probably. I only really think that the one might be a pullet, just cause of how much lighter and smaller the comb is, and because they don't get serious about chest bumping like the other ones have. If I see two chicks square off and then proceed to pop at each other for more than a few seconds, especially with hackles raised, I assume boy. That particular one, just like the Cochin with the smaller comb, will square off but then disengage once the other chick starts hopping.

Update: pretty sure that I only have one pullet, guys. I think I got thrown a curve by one of the ones I thought was a full Cochin. I just noticed the other day that they have white legs, so they can't be full Cochin. So I'm thinking for no other reason that they are reddish brown, that they are a Welsummer x Cochin male, maybe? Is it possible the barring didn't get passed on at all? But I've got updated pictures!

This one's my favorite. I love the lacing on his tail.

Most of the SLW crosses together (the one above is on the far right here.) All of them have saddles at this point, so they're most definitely all boys.

Here's the one I'm sure is a Welsummer cross (and most likely my only pullet)

The Cochin. It's hard to see but he's got some saddles.:

The SLW that got left out of the other picture...he's got the bumpiest comb, though it's hard to tell with the photo quality here:

The "Suspicious" Cochin:

Note the white legs. I also think that I saw some black on their wings. I'll have to take a picture with them spread out sometime so y'all can see what I mean. I would think that if they were an SLW or Leghorn cross, they'd be white like the others, which is part of why I suspect Welsummer.

Let me know what y'all think.

I'm a little late, but I do think you have one female.

The pullet in this quote isn’t a welsummer cross, she has a rose comb. She’s a SLW cross.

Well I'll be damned. You're probably right. I haven't looked at her comb in a while, since she likes me the least, interestingly enough. But the other Cochin looking one is a male Welsummer cross, right? Cause otherwise I don't know how he ended up with light shanks.
