Neighbors cat hanging out around my chickens

We've been doing that with the bb gun since my granddaddy and ain't no animals ever been injured just spooked. If y'all are so against it then stick to your own things or used a squirt water gun instead. I was just giving a suggestion since she asked and that's what we do so that's what I commented. Y'all tryna put me out to be an evil person or something.

My advise is to document any phone calls or conversations you've had with your neighbor and be sure to check the laws in your county and state so you can protect your animals and yourself.

Hun a pellet gun is stronger then a bb gun and that's why I said from a distance and on one pump. As little kids we would wear helmets and do bb gun wars we would get a bruise at the most
My mom in elementary school knew a boy who was shooting bb guns with his friend…his friend accidentally shot him in the eye - from a distance - and he went blind.
One should never shoot anything unless they intend on killing it. I know many people do give a “warning” shot and nothing happens but I think it just hasn’t happened…yet.

Just my 2 cents

My son in law has a glass eye. B B gun took his eye out in high school

The neighbor's cat has been hanging out around my chickens. The cat makes them very nervous, they all sort of go stock still, and the full grown ones flutter up to the top of the coop. The poor little pullets though just huddle in the bushes.

What's the chances that this cat's going to try to kill my chickens? I've thrown things at it, but it's quick. Also, talking to my neighbor won't solve anything. He is not the friendliest (we had a hard enough time convincing him to not let his pitbulls wander into our property around our toddler girls, and he keeps putting his cows in our pasture without our permission, we're going to have to repair the fence more -- he says his cows keeping mangling it up, that he didn't do it. So we we're planning to put in a brand new fence relatively soon, to keep both his cows and pitbulls out, but I don't think that's going to keep the cat out).

Am I being overly worried about the cat?
Cats use the element of surprise. They don't chase and struggle with their prey like coyotes. They attack small birds and chickens .I'd be worried about the dogs personally

Cats won't be discouraged by a spray of water, a couple of large dual purpose chickens is the permanent solution to any cat problem.
My neighbor cats are great hunters. They always got along well, with the chickens ignoring the cats and the cats nearby minding their own business. When a cat started stalking a chicken, the chicken would immediately attack the cat. This summer, my chickens went broody and I let them hatch some chicks. I was already prepared to lose at least half the chicks to cats. This never happened. Instead, the cats disappeared completely and I never saw them again until I sold all the chicks and the hens stopped being broody.
I witnessed the local magpies coalizing with my chickens to beat up the cats. The magpies would signal the location of the cat to my dominant hen, and she would hide in the bushes, waiting for the cat to trespass the fence and beat him up.
My neighbor told me that the magpies hate his cats because the cats ate their fledgling baby.
Get large breeds of dual purpose chickens. Cat problem solved forever.
