Had a hen (Rosie) go broody in the barn a while ago, we didn’t know where she had her clutch hidden so we chose to wait and see if anything hatched. Well, they did! Out of over 20 eggs only 4 made it out, sadly (Rosie isn’t very big, she’s half bantam Rhode Island Red and half Belgian bearded du’uccle). They are all doing well, one actually hatched in my hands! Rosie isn’t the best mom unfortunately but luckily we have the two silkie girls who have taken a liking to the sweeties and have been watching over them if momma hen leaves them behind. I can’t seem to think of any names for them, I’ve probably named over 100 chickens and am starting to run out of ideas so came here for ideas.

Here the little cuties are! There are two red ones and two yellow/white and black ones. They are a mix of 6 different breeds:
- Bantam Rhode Island Red
-Belgian bearded du’uccle
-Andalusian
-Cuckoo maran
-Crested cream legbar
-Novagen

I’ve also used Fern and Ivy, and then Daisy, Mae (aka May), Autumn, and Joie (pronounced Joy).

Others on my list are: Aspen, Aurora, Belle, Blossom, Dahlia, Dolly, Frost, Iris, Liana, Lilac, Lily, Luna, Mist, Pearl, Rain/Rayne/Raine, Sage, Sandy, Sesame, Snow, Spring, Stormy, Summer, Tempest, Winter

Will definitely have to add Ember, Fawn, and Wren to my list 😁

Aw! they're so cute!
Thank you, they are! The one we called Ivy disappeared about a week ago without a trace but the other three are still hanging around and getting big. Their mother did end up abandoning them but their grandmother has taken over raising them.
