New chicks - what and when can I start feeding them treats?

Wow I need one of those webcams for my house. That way when I am out I can yell at DH to do the dishes i know he loves to do!

I do not give my chicks any treats except chopped hardboiled eggs and/or plain yogurt till they are about 3 months old. I have no idea why people always want to give them extra stuff at such a young age, really. It lowers the protein levels they need for good development.
