New egg layer

Hi all! I have a female Chinese (or African) mix goose who just laid her first egg two days ago. I found it under my porch! She has a house and a run, but my porch is partially covered in lattice so I suspect she felt safer there. However, no more eggs yet! She was in there this morning but came back out without laying. She also didn't stay near the nest at all (I'm lucky I thought to check there) is this normal? Will she most likely return to that nest or find another?

I think first timers don't get where they are supposed to lay, I had a duck that laid 2 eggs outside the coop door, where I almost stepped on them, and it started to rain. I scooped up those eggs and popped them under a hen and she hatched out 2 girl ducks. Even though they just hung out with each other, when ever they saw the momma hen, they would bob their heads in greeting, and respect.
