New Jersey

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advise. Sadly, we are moving and can't bring our 4 chickens (2 RIR and 2 BSL) and a male Pekin duck with us (all 1 yr old). We are having a hard time finding someone who can take them. If anyone has ideas on where we could try to find them a home, I'd greatly appreciate the help! Or if anyone is able to take them please let me know! We are in the South Jersey area - Salem County. You can even have the coops if you need them! We just want to see them go to a good home! The chickens are really great layers and he is a wonderful protector. Sadly, his female counterpart past away so we'd love to see him go to a home with other ducks!

Hi everyone,
Sadly my sweet 14 year old duck Pip passed away and I’m left with only 1 duck. I’m looking to buy an adult female duck to be friends with the one I have left. Let me know if you could please sell me one of yours. I’ve been looking but have had no luck. I’m in central New Jersey.
Thanks!

I have a few…depends where you are and what type of environment they will have - I would only want my ducks to go to a equal or better environment - they are cross between call duck hen and mallard father- silver ducks- I think I have one that is not paired up already . I’m in central NJ as well- send me a private message to f you’re interested

It might be better for you to buy a pair if the other duck you have is also 14 yrs + that way if something happens the other two won’t be as affected

Thank you so much! Do they fly? I life in a suburban area so that wouldn’t work so well. I’m not positive how old odette is but I think like 5 or 6 because she doesn’t lay regularly. I can send photos of my set up to you! I have her in a 8x24 ft pen. I have a big baby pool with with a ramp and restaurant mats on the ground. They have a baby house with straw for the winter and a little heater as well. I let them free rage the yard during the day

Yes, all my ducks fly- but I think you might be happy with a pair of Call Ducks - my friend has a few available for sale - call Ducks are tiny, like miniature mallards…they can fly just like a mallard but if raised with humans can go out in the yard free range if safe from predators and will come in every night- it’s better if you hatch or get them as ducklings but if they were hand raised by another person should still be ok (every duck has a different personality of course). I live in the suburbs too …my back yard 40’x 35’ is fenced and has aviary net overhead to keep the ducks in and hawks out

Yes call ducks look adorable! I think I’d love them too but I don’t have an aviary net so I’m probably better off sticking to the non flying breeds for now. I’ve never had a hawk incident I have them out whenever someone is home with the window cracked. Pip would alert me anytime a hawk was around so I’d put them in their pen for a while then

I thought that as well - usually my ducks freak out when a hawk is sited- but recently a hawk killed and partially ate a silky chicken when I was maybe 20 feet away in the yard - I did not hear a sound!!! Then when I walk over I just happened upon the scene
