Thank you for checking in. I have been glued to X, watching videos and reading stories, my heart is grieving over the suffering.

We are praying for everyone, and I made a small donation to Samaritan's Purse. I know of their good work, my money will be used wisely.

We are too dependent on technology. Old school is more reliable... and cash is still king. Wait till the credit card machines crash because of no internet connection.

I still think CB radios are the way to go. Don't need to worry about cell service failing.

@fuzzi things are getting a bit better for some, it will take a while.
In some of the harder hit places, locals are pulling together and helping each other out, churches and local businesses (those that are still left) are doing quite a bit.
Samaritan's Purse does a good job.

@2 Acres It has been a challenge with communications for sure and most internet access is very limited and/or there is none.
Absolutely cash is essential in times like this, some businesses will operate, but it's Cash Only.

Something for everyone to try to do, have a little cash on hand, especially when a storm of any type is coming through and you may be without power/communications. Have small bills. I'm not talking thousands stuffed in the mattress, just some cash on hand to buy some fuel or some other necessities.

Another thing to have is a radio so you can hopefully get local news/announcements. I'm glad I have one, had it for years.

I'm not so sure about CB being the solution, but they could be one option to have. We used to have them many years ago, here in the mountains, they aren't that reliable with signals getting through, you may have to drive miles to get to a place where you can get a good signal.

In the Old Days, landlines worked very well.

That is true... but most telephone poles don't carry telephone lines anymore. It's all fiber optic or cable now... Which if damaged, puts you back at "square one".

Hi everyone we are on day 10 of no power can only get cell service a few times a day and usually I can get online for maybe 10-20mins of an evening if that sometimes not at all. Elon Musk is suppose to be sending Starlink to help.
They are still finding bodies here it is so heartbreaking people and animals.
I can't believe there can be another storm heading to Florida does anyone know where it is to go after it leaves FL?

Milton will most likely cut straight across FL making landfall Wednesday in the Tampa area or just south of there.
