Good to hear. It seems to get quite hot. I hope they are smart enough to give it a bit of space lol

For adult chickens I would put it on low. It’s designed for them to get closer to warm up and move away to be cooler. Mine all stopped using it a couple of weeks out of the brooder.* It got down to 35F a couple of time but mostly temperatures were in the low 50F. Mild climate.

*The bird that slept against it the longest was my runt pullet, Delores. Now everyone is in the grownup coop and they sleep together all on one perch — all eight of them — when it is cooler in the night.

Edmontown sounds surprizingly progressive for that Provinze if it has specifique local Laws on coop standards.
In Edmonton you need a permit to have hens. I believe the bylaws were put in to place so that things such as coop size and amount of chickens are followed by residents. Without any specific laws regarding coop size, amount of pullets /hens, and how to dispose of waste, I doubt Edmonton council would have ever went ahead with allowing urban hens. I know that other cities in Alberta such as St. Albert also have their own bylaws and standards regarding hen keeping. Many cities in Alberta still do not allow anyone to have chickens.
