Typically, yes. But they are both too light to be pullets. Both have very narrow black bars indicating male. One just has a tad bit wider white bars than the other.isn't the barred rock hen darker then the rooster so would one be a pullet

I'm guessing this one is about 10 weeks old, not sure because it was given to me from a friend not a hatchery. Not sure on the breed. Thoughts on gender? I can't have any more roosters![/IMG]

The chick on the left ^ and in the other pic is an almost 6 week old Iowa Blue. I know nothing about this breed. Today I noticed (s)he is bullying the other two chicks, same age. Is this a breed thing, or is Sioux actually a boy named Sioux?! I know it's early, but I thought someone might know more about these than I do.
