Not sure what day these eggs are at

So, after one of the parent bird died suddenly i have taken in some lovebird eggs. I do have experience on handfeeding baby birds but i usually know when they were laid unlike this time. They are all at different stages of development too . does anyone know the signs of an egg going into lockdown? i know about drawdown but have no pics of those. any other signs i have to look for? lovebird eggs take anywhere from 18-24 days. some of them look to be age 5-8 and some 10-15.

Im guessing i might also need to buy another bator for those that go to lockdown first right... I can't risk these eggs on a cheap bator so there goes a few hundred dollars. Guess in the future it might be useful to have an extra bator anyway.

sure, here they are 1 of each. All of them have veins but can’t seem to capture the veins on the darker ones on cam and i can see the eyes in some of them.

thanks i was thinking 4-5 because of the larger embriyo. Im not sure why this one is so far behind the others though maybe laid late?

I have gotten another Rcom bator prepared for lockdown. Well 2 days ago i candled and one is starting to draw down. Well today i candled and realized it had pipped? It still had some veins visible, could it have pipped to early? I do know these birds are more translucent than chick eggs but i was not expecting a pip.

It pipped under the line i made last candling and over the line i made today. Will it absorb the rest of the veins or.. i’ve never candled an egg the day of or a day before hatch as the closest ive done is at lockdown 3 days before so im not sure what to look for on hatch day.

before hatch, the air cell will grow suddenly and drop to the side slightly, you might even see the baby pushing the membrane against the air cell.
At this point, the egg will be all full up and dark, and you can safely put them into lockdown.
I believe there is a parrot/exotic birds section on this forum, you may want to try asking there for more info!

This sounds okay- you mean an external pip, yes? If there are still lots of veins, it is likely the baby will now take a break and finish aborbing, before completing the hatch. How is it doing now, any progress?

Yes external, a bit hard to see the beak in the internal as they have curved beaks unlike chickens and ducks. 14 hours in and I am still waiting I'm trying to tell myself maybe it is an over achiever and decided to pip with veins still there and will continue absorbing and thats why its taking its sweet time. Hoping to see progress today . Here is a pic of it

That is true, about the beaks. Though, I didn't see an internal pip with my ducks either! They just started making chirping!
Is the baby making sounds?
