There's no real question here, or even a problem, I just thought this was an interesting behavior.
The other evening as I was getting ready to lock the birds up for the evening I notced one of my younger hens, Ghost (I nicknamed her due to her unique "arctic camo" plumage in the flock) was loitering outside the run. When I pointed to the run to tell her to go inside she started skqawking quietly at me and making her way towards the front yard, looking back every couple of steps to make sure I was following her.
She quickly jogged ahead and by the time I got to the yard I could hear her walking across the front porch. When I got on the porch she was squatting under the shelving unit there and scratching. When she saw I was there she hopped out from under that area and jogged past me and headed back towards the coop.
Sure enough there was an egg she'd laid earlier in there. I picked it up and by the time I got to the back yard I saw her jogging into the run.
Weird, weird, little bird.
