I cant figure out how to post the video but she is just slightly opening her mouth, not gaping or adjusting her crop. When I pick her up her comb will start turning purple. Last night I had her in a covered kennel inside and put VetRX on her beak/comb and vitamins in her water. She woke up breathing normal and I carried her back out to eat. Now she's breathing off again and her bottom is dirty. Please help if you have any advice, thank you!
1) What type of bird , age and weight
4-5 year old isa brown, normal weight
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
opening and closing mouth, dirty bottom
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
Since yesterday
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
Nope
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
Nope
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
We have had hot and cold weather but nothing else that I know of. They free range so it's possible she got into something.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
Drinking a TON of water early, eating her normal grains and ran with the others when I tossed out some fruit
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
Looks normal but stuck to her bottom
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
VetRX and poultry drench
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
Only vet who will see her isn't in the office for 4 more days. I would be willing to take her if she lives that long.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
Sorry I don't know how to post videos
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
They free range my yard. We have a 9x9 shed and an attached 12x12 run, use horse stall pellet bedding. Multiple water and food bowls. 15 hens total
