All,
Today my eight year old daughter found our first eggs!!! Very excited!!! I think they were laid by the Silkies. They are small and the lightest of brown color with some white
speckles. There were four of them. We live in Orange County California and are totally stoked Dude!!! I do have a Question though...Is it possible that if we found four eggs, and assuming that the two Silkies will lay one a day each, that they started yesterday and will they be alright to eat? I am trying to hold myself back from goin' total Rocky Balboa here and suckin' them down. But I don't want to go out like Old Yeller either...My wife would be just the one to have to put me down....kidding.
If anyone could answer the numerics question and how long an egg can sit in a nesting box and be alright to eat...that would be great.
On a side note...the other chickens out of the five that we have are...A Brama, A Cochin, and a Barred Rock.
Signed,
A Man and his Chickens
