Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Are you going to make the bottom chicken wire? I’m thinking how are you going to clean it? I love the idea. They are soooo messy.
Just Saw the pictures 🤦🏼‍♀️
Hi and welcome to my thread. I figured you would see the complete setup! It worked out very well. If I ever use it again, I will definitely set it up with water nipples.

Hi everyone! Where has the time gone? Life has been so crazy busy, but I do think of all of my friends here often. I hope you are all doing well. 💞

Lost my beautiful mama last year. She was 93.5. She lived a long life and I will miss her forever. God blessed us with another grandbaby in 2023, she and her brother are a joy. Life goes on. 💔💞

We have 5 girls and one Roo remaining from our flock of 5 years ago, wow, 5 years. We added 20 more littles. Dale set up a nice initial brood area for them so that our grandbaby's could see them, without being able to grab them. Those little hands are quick...lol

We decided to find new homes for our peacocks. It broke my heart to sell the baby's, their mama would cry and cry for them. I just couldn't do it anymore.

We also decided to keep honeybees after talking about it for the last 20-25 years. They are so amazing, I had no idea. We will be extracting our first honey tomorrow.

Well, that's the quick update. Sorry, I've been away so long.

Hey, Lovely. So nice to hear from you. I have moved to central Queensland & added a rooster to my flock. Mostly frizzled bantams these days but I have 1 Campine left. Still as mad as ever.
Hello my beautiful friend. I teared up when I saw your response.

Central Queensland, what a huge change for you. I hope everything is well with you and your family. 💞

Well, I cannot imagine you without a Campine!💗

I love frizzles! I've always wanted one. I have 2 lavender Orpingtons and one of them has some curly feathers. I don't think she's a true frizzle, but I think she's adorable. I also finally got 2 Cream Legbars, they are so cute.

I'm trying to attach some pictures, but it's not working at the moment.

Threads like these are amazing for newbies like me. I can see what my journey is going to be like and learn so much. Amazing story and always wanted bees too!! One thing at a time lol
Thank you! There are a lot of amazing stories and people in this group.

It does take time and it seems like I've been homesteading forever...lol

The bees are truly amazing, but the honey definitely isn't free, just like chicken eggs..hahaha

Hi Rene, so good to see you here again!

Love the pictures and news of the new grand baby. So sorry about your mom :hugs

Good luck with your first honey extract tomorrow. DH and I took a class in beekeeping years ago and then it never worked into our plans. So I'm interested in hearing all about how the bees are working out for you.

Don't be a stranger!
