pullet suddenly started wheezing this afternoon. it is about 70 degrees outside at the warmest part of the day today. we checked her crop, vent, throat and mouth and didn’t see anything though we are new chicken keepers so we’re not experts. i have seen her drinking water, preening, and dust bathing. any ideas on what this is and how to help?
she has not laid an egg yet she is about 6 months old.
we have pine shaving bedding in the coop and they were in the coop all day yesterday.
she has been having watery poops which i thought were due to overfeeding her blueberries.
help please!!

i would see if you can get a bit of oil down her gullet, whether a few drops in her beak or some bread pieces soaked in olive oil (vegetable oil, coconut oil, whatever you have) and make sure to massage the crop several times daily. If I remember correctly, it should be massaged in a clockwise direction, but in my experience, any massage at all helps when there is something stuck.

I've got a rooster who is an "asthmatic" I treat him with VetRx when it gets bad. It never fully goes away but it helps. His wheezing is worse now that allergiy season is here. He's healthy as an Ox other than the weezing.
