Peacock has lost his scream!!

I have had my male peacock for over three years and he is apx 10 years old. Has always been healthy. Apx three months ago I was given two females. They were confined for over two months before being released to roam. One laid six eggs, began to set for apx 12 days, then suddenly died! The other female looks fine other then having some mites which have been dusted with sevins. But my male sounds terrible!! H e has been getting more and more horse for the last week and now can not scream. He seems very healthy. Eats well and drinks good. behavior is fine otherwise. I looked down his through and felt his crop tonight and all looks normal but I can not figure this out. Someone please help us to help him!!! Thank you in advance!!

Maybe he has just called so much this year that he has lost his voice. I bet it will come back I am guessing it is just like what some people get when they go to a concert and scream too much or something and then can't talk or something. Peacocks will get horse when they have been calling a lot. They sound raspy and not as clear, it sounds pretty funny. I don't think it is permanent that is my guess.

Thank you everyone for the kind remarks and for the welcome. I just worry so very much. He sounds so bad and kind of "gargully", so it makes me concerned. I have been reading up on worming and hope I'm doing the best thing by my birds. Welcome anything anyone can recommend. They mean the world to me and my family! Thanks again to all!

I would worm them. Ivomec Plus will help with Gapeworm if they have that (along with other worms). Only thing I can think that would effect throat if you've already checked for obstructions.

Once in a while one of my IB peahens will have that call that sounds horrible for awhile. I always worry something is wrong but they've never passed. I've read they can be wormed with Ivermecton during breeding season without problems so might be a good idea but guess Safe-Guard (Fenbendazole) would be best to get the bad worms. Sure wish I knew why the peahen passed setting eggs. Was she in the sun with high temperature? Did she have plenty of water available when she left the nest?
