In the PNW rain and mud is a constant it seems. I’ve placed straw bales on their pen randomly for places to perch and yes they peck at them but not a lot. Recently tho I’ve caught a hen eating some wet strands. Should I be concerned? Maybe alfalfa bales would be a smarter choice? Yes they have free access to grit and oyster shells. Eating Nutrena 16% protein layer crumbles and pellets. Thank you for your advice!
