This morning my 5 month old Pekin drake was having a hard time walking on one of his legs. I separated him from the rest of the flock and gave him a pool, water, and food. Tonight he seems about the same as he did this morning. I looked at his foot and it doesn’t appear to be bumble foot. His nails seem a little long but I’m not sure if that would make him unable to walk. I have one drake that likes to pick on the other ducks so I wonder if last night in the coop he injured him? Does anyone have any thoughts on what this could be or what I should do to help him?

I’d give time away for resting and also give him B Complex. TSC carries one brand name Durvet liquid BComplex it will say injectable but we use it orally over a treat they love like dried mealworms 1 ml daily it’s great for niacin deficiency and for support of an injury. Water therapy is also great it takes pressure off the legs and keeps the muscles from getting weak. It could be the other drake injured him so giving him time away to recover is a good option just keep him where he can see the others so he doesn’t get depressed. Large dog crate inside the coop can keep him with everyone but protected for over night. Let us know how he is after you get him started on the BComplex. It may take close to a week for you to see any progress.

Does anyone know of a real cheap Peking duck wheel chair because my Peking duck is have trouble walking we have kept her with out one for a while but now we feel like she needs one

I have never heard of such a thing and not sure how that could possibly work. Pekins are meat birds and their legs aren't the strongest to support them. How old is your duck? What kind of diet do you provide and have you tried giving liquid vitamin B complex to help strengthen the legs? Is there a break that a vet should look at? Is there a bumble on the bottom of the foot? There are many reasons that Pekins lose the ability to walk well. I wouldn't jump to reducing food intake as the first step.

I don’t think there is a break and I don’t think there is a bumble on her foot I guess I will have to look at the bottom of her foot
