Duck eggs. When do you intervene? Half of them have chipped huge holes when they piped. Picture of one of the eggs in question. They piped yesterday and the membrane where the hole is appears to be drying it's turned white and now yellow and sunken a bit even though the tray is filled with water properly for humidity. One egg is also piped at the opposite end it should have on the blunt side underneath the egg and has not made progress but the egg is wiggling periodically. I know ducks can take longer to hatch but we've never had an issue with wrong end pip or the membrane drying with proper temp and the reservoir filled. I do not want to lose any of them. The house is cold but the incubator is maintaining temp as it should be. I figured give them until the time they externally pipped yesterday and reassess then but if anyone has suggestions it'd be greatly appreciated.

Do you know what the humidity is? The air in your house may be dryer this time of year, and it may affect your incubator.

Check for the article on assisted hatching.
Make sure bills are clear. Do not help beyond bill clearing if the ducklings are still opening and closing their mouths. If the membrane is sticking to the duckling a little cooking oil can help loosen it.
