Penny for your thoughts- A day in the life of Penny Marshall ❤️

Extra kisses delivered with breakfast this morning ✅😁

How is miss Penny today?
She is good thanks! I had to go into work today so I brought her in and crated her in the basement- which she was NOT thrilled with. It is currently 15 degrees F here today and since she lives in the Penny Penthouse above the flock I don't have a good/safe water heater option for her currently. The other girls have a heated water option and I am trying the salt water bottle in the secondary gravity water feeder and it seems to be working!

So I figured, the basement is around 50 degrees F and her water wont freeze there. I will move her back out this week when the weather is above freezing and we won't have water worry issues.

Oh how neat, I’ve never heard of that trick, I’ll check it out. We struggled with frozen water the last few days, too.

Ah yes, this arctic air is causing issues for everyone it seems. I feel your pain! We have one chicken that decided it was a good idea to start hard molting right before this so she’s been coming in at night, too, much to her dismay (unfortunately she’s a vocal one 🤣). It was -23 yesterday, she would’ve froze! At that low, I can only keep their coop at about 25, which I feel is too cold for bare skin. I know they’re unhappy to be inside, but don’t they know how lucky it is for them!

wowwww -23? I will make sure I tell the flock how warm it is in NY compared to where you are lolol

to be honest- I would let Ravioli in every day to hang out with me:lau

I’m not going to lie, it’s very tempting 😂 is Penny not fond of being inside ever, or just not today?
Penny loves indoors but doesn't want to be crated- but for her safety- and the cleanliness of my floor when I am not home she must be. She doesn't walk far- but ya never know with her lol. Also if she gets too far from food and water she won't eat because it's not right in front of her...poor girl. But I am home now and she is great!
