Permit for ducks in Florida?

Anyone know the permit requirements for importing domestic ducklings into Florida? The fish and wildlife website is very confusing. Just looking to get 5 ducklings from breeder in Louisiana. Ducklings are Welsh Harlequins and would just be pets so not shown or sold.

She got pekins because they didn't need a permit.

The requirements are totally ridiculous! Vet forms, renew every 2 years, provide drawing of property, evacuation plans, grant permission for inspections, etc. I’m asking to keep Welsh Harlequins, not velociraptors!

Eek! I am a Florida native but have only had ducks in South Carolina. I do know my brother just got four Pekin ducklings, not sure if they are something you're interested in but I have a pair myself and they have proven (in my limited experience) to be very robust, friendly and personable ducks.

I wonder if they decided to implement permits to sort out the serious duck owners from those who just thought to own on a whim. But, then not sure why the pekins are ok to own without it? I was thinking due to the duck problems they already have in FL with domestic ducks having been released and become invasive (like muscovies)?
It would be frustrating. But, the only way to change laws is to research and then let your voice be heard.

I don't think so. Because @cajun41887 wants welsh harlequins and @Farmer Connie said she got pekins because they were one of the only ones that didn't need a permit. But, again, I don't really know.

Google is our friend. All mallard derived breeds except pekins require a permit to assure no cross breeding with wild mallards. Flying muscovies require another sort of permit. Just more bureaucratic BS.
