Pet Waterer for Ducklings?

Has anyone tried using one of those automatic waterers for their ducklings? Our ducks are on an allotment and we can't get up there all the time to keep topping the water like we were last year. I fear shallow tubs with holed lids will evaporate too fast

More than likely they will empty it out and try and bathe in it. Y&ou know how ducks are with water. How about buckets with lids and a hole cut into the top so they can get their heads into drink . I get them for free at our grocery store bakery

I have used those before, but they will swim in them or at least attempt to. I prefer 2 gallon buckets from tractor supply.
