PHILIPPINES BYC GROUP

they are known to have some of the best meat in the world when fed the correct diet.

they want to be out free ranging or in a large area not stuck in a coop 24 hours a day (once they are old enough)

i wait till my birds are atleast 8 weeks old unless they were hatched by they broody mother

at the moment i have a hen that's 2 years old & she is doing well

they are not like the CX meat birds who needed to be processed before they ever start to lay an egg

Thanks for the info. That's really nice.

Looks like they're good to serve on christmas :)

Poulet de Bresse may be produced only from white chickens of the Bresse breed, raised within a legally defined area of the historic region and former provence of Bresse in eastern France.

The chicken has an apellation. Meaning it can only be called Poulet de Bresse if it is grown in that regions - much like champagne is not champagne if its not grown from grapes grown in a precise region in France.

In the USA they call the chickens imported from France as American Bresse - so as not to get sued for trademark infingment.

note the legs are still on the bird - this is to help validate that its a true Bresse

A 2kg dressed 2kg chicken can be bought for 2100pesos

I plan to feed my Manok de Bresse as regular diet and then finish them off on a diet with 25% fresh copra for 2 weeks pior to meeting the small white coop.

Very interestinG. what would you call your bresse? Visayan bresse maybe :D Are you also planning to sell them when you have enough stock? I wonder how many filipinos have tasted bresse chickens. Maybe only those who have gone to france or US...

Most people in the USA or even france would not have tried it

Its too expensive for most people.

It will be interesting in the Philippines as I will have to develop the market. I may try and sell live cockerals directly to high end restaurants in manila or through a distributor.

I am not sure about selling breeders. as I may try and make them very exclusive. In that case, we would only sell dressed females.

This breed is quite interesting. If my leghorn/ bresse chick is a roo what will be a good cross with him? Native chicken? Or I should get a bigger bird?

Yes I should cross with native chickens so that it will improve iur local chickens. Our native chikens go broody when she reaches 8-10 eggs.

@ozexpat

I will resist the temptation of buying your chooks as of the moment. :D There is always next time.
I should create a new fb account.

Its always so tempting to buy your chicks. If only I have enough budget right now. I should wait for my chicks to grow then I will get another batch. :) This is my obsession. Lol
Are the Guineas selling well?
