Pigeon Adventures

Aw, Neet is so cute!

Here's our first and only feral pigeon, Homer. He was found under a bridge with fishing line all tangled up around his wings.

I found a Russet in Washington DC.
I gave the pigeons some corn and beans from my Chipotle burrito. They flew down as soon as I dropped it down, and this one was the leader. He did walk up to the door of Chipotle, he seemed like he wanted to come inside, he was very bold.
There was a water dish in that spot which explains why they liked to hang out there. Not sure if it was for the birds or for dogs.
They ate up my scraps very quickly and since Mom didn't want all her burrito bowl I gave them that too, but they didn't go down.
I guess they will find it eventually. I bet Chipotle is a lot better for them than whatever else they are finding.

I think it would be cool to add the black flecks to Russet so he'd be heterozygous for blue.

He’s so cute! I saw a (confirmed) female red t-check with the blue flecks and still haven't seen an explanation for what would cause that

At any rate, considering how brave this one is I think he's for sure a male XD
It's interesting how common red bars are in Puerto Rico but in most cities I get really excited to see them because it's rare.

Not nearly as rare as a goose I recently saw in a flock of Canadas though. It might have been a snow goose (it was very far away) but based on the head and neck I think it was a Ross's goose. Either way, really cool...

Naturally the picture communicates nothing except it has a short neck but I don't have a good camera
I've always wanted to see a Ross's goose in the wild but a Snow would be super cool too.
I did see both at the National Zoo on Saturday.
