Hi all
This is my first incubation
1st chick hatched but took a very long time
2nd pipped and made a hole which looked way too big to me (photo attached), then started unzipping and suddenly stopped breathing and died.

Any advice as to what happened here for future reference is there anything I could have done to intervene?

We have 14 eggs so far one hatched, one died and no other signs yet

what day are you at? What is the humidity? What breed of chickens laid the eggs?

That happens and there is nothing much you can do once the eggs are in the incubator, hatching takes a lot out of a chick and some just are not strong enough to make it.

If the eggs came from your chickens make sure the parents are getting all of their vitamins, especially their vitamin B's and all of their minerals to give the chicks the best possible chance of making it.
