I've been given 2 bonded geese last year as previous owner didn't have space for them after their move.
Initially, I thought these 2 were embden but when they gave birth to a very odd looking gosling/gander, it completely threw me off.
Question 1. Is there some Toulouse genetics in the dad or some other breed?
When I hatched and incubated their eggs, I got 2 pure white ganders. The gander they hatched on their own is one with grey saddleback.
Please tell me what you think the dad is and what genetics is inherited from the grey/white son.(The picture with the 3 geese/bottom left is dad)
The pictures with 2 white ganders were hatched by myself.
Question 2. I wonder why is the discrepancy so big?
Dad has some grey patches(minor).
Their son is basically over 50% grey.
The 2 boys I hatched is basically pure white like mom. With one of them having a tiny blotch of grey near their preenal gland.
Question 3. I'm sure autosexing is probably not reliable because Dad is not a pure embden correct?
Thank you!
