Just another question on this since everyone has been so helpful. The lash egg was 8 days ago. She is eating, drinking and running around like before, seems very healthy. She is also laying eggs again.
Is it normal for her to be laying again? Will this lash thing happen again? Decreased life span? Or could this be just an anomaly? She is no longer on antibiotics or the colloidal silver I was giving her.
Thank you all. So grateful I found this forum.
With wrapped up shell membranes like that, I would have expected her to likely begin laying normal eggs again. Often that is a one time glitch for whatever reason unless the shell gland is starting to fail.

Some folks that have had hens expel lash material or lash eggs (Salpingitis), do report their hen laying normally after receiving antibiotics. It is possible. Salpingitis is inflammation of the oviduct, so depending on what caused the inflammation, the meds may help for a period of time. The condition often proves to be chronic, so in time, weeks/months/a year or so down the line, you may see more material and she will need treated again or perhaps, the condition worsens to the point she declines and is unable to recover.

It seems cliche to say, but time will tell with these things. When I have a hen that I've noted having some type of issue, I just monitor them and make mental notes. A lot of times, they may have a few "off" days only to seem perfectly fine for a long time, then just decline suddenly - the mental note I made comes back and I have an "ah yes" moment.

Thank you. I will keep a close eye on her and see what happens. I guess she will just keep living her best life until the Lord says otherwise!
I am very new to this chicken keeping (8 months in) and have been surprised by the measure of grace and acceptance required in seeing them flourish or flounder. I read through the threads (dog attacks, raccoons, illness, weather, etc) and am amazed at the tenacity of these little raptors and their keepers!
