I really wanted silver laced Polish chickens and failed when I got two chickens out of the Polish mixed variety straight run Bin. I thought they might be silver laced since the had white and grey fuzz mixed with the black fuzz and black tufted heads. This is what they look like at 4 weeks old. Will they be all black? or should they get white tufts? I'm clueless, never had a Polish before.

I guess I was not clear in my question, sorry about that. I have searched multiple sites about Polish Chickens and don't see any that are all black. The closest to being all black still has some white in it's crest. I am a member of another site as well and someone had suggested that these may be Crevecoeurs, never heard of them before, but they are an all black crested breed. I am going to keep them and love them, but now I am just curious what the heck kind of chickens I have. Or if there is anyone that has polish chickens and some have in fact been all black.

I see what you were asking and I think you are right. This chick is likely not a Polish but a Crevecoeur. Both breeds have four toes and other than color there is very little to distinguish between the two breeds, especially with young birds like this one. And since some of the larger hatcheries do breed Crevecoeurs, some of them could end up in a feed store bin.

Funny that I found this post! I too ordered Polish chicks from a hatchery and I have one that is coming in solid black as well. It was black as a baby chick when they arrived. Black beak, feet etc. Its crest was not round and started as more of a mowhawk. I have been combing the internet to try and find word of a black polish too.

I have a solid black polish hen that doesn't have a stitch of white ANYWHERE. she is 100% pure blooded polish. the man I got her from said that solid black polish are extremely rare.
