Polkies anyone?! 🐣

Ok so I have one crested/bearded silkie girl at home but I will be getting another crested/bearded girl today. I'm also getting a silver laced polish rooster today! I plan on breeding the polish roo to both of the silkie girls and then taking the offspring from both hens and breeding them back to a silkie OR breeding them to each other. What are y'alls thoughts? Should I do this? Btw the partridge silkie out on the grass is mine and the other one is the one I'm getting today. I'm not sure what the color of the new girl is so if you know feel free to tell me... Thanks!

You can do this! I have some "Polkie" eggs in the incubator right now that are covered by a silkie. Chicks will be 3/4 silkie, 1/4 Polish. These will have a 50/50 chance of having silkied feathers or smooth feathers.
If you do this and sell the chicks, just make sure the buyers know they are not pure silkie, as the silkied feathered ones will look very silkie like.

White capped black polish mom, recessive white silkie dad. I bred her to my paint silkie, so her chicks should be paint or black.

Thanks! She is truly one of my favorite birds, gorgeous and a real sweetheart. I just started collecting a few eggs from her mother as well. These will be half silkie/half polish like her.
I am on the Halloween Hatch A-long as well as the October one. I will likely post photos on the Spectacular Silkies thread as well. If I remember, I can tag you when the chicks are hatched and fluffy!
