Hi, ya'll,

My name is Erin, I’m a current grad student in the agricultural sciences department over here at Texas A&M Commerce. Part of our research involves trapping California Quail over in Idaho and translocating them back to Texas. We are required to test all the birds with the Pullorum Typhoid antigen which has become quite scarce recently. Does anyone have any information regarding where we would be able to purchase a small supply of antigen for our research purposes? We will purchase expired batches! Thank you!

Have you contacted any poultry testing agents? Just a thought. I know Texas has a program for testing agents and maybe they have some expired antigen.

I just called the Charles River Lab the producers of the antigen.

They stated that within the next few weeks they will be releasing small batches of antigen but these batches will be going to state agricultural people first, and then they will be filing the back orders from 2018 before they release the product for sale to individuals.

She mentioned something about they are still waiting for the USDA to release the antigen that they have produced.

According to some research I did that expired antigen works good even though they put an expiration date on it.
I was a tester here in Texas, I did not renew my certificate last year because of this antigen shortage.
As a tester we were not allowed to use expired antigen for any reason.

Charles River contact info if you want to call yourself:
