Putting rocks and sticks in water pails

Hello. Just curious if anyone has a goose that puts rocks and sticks in their water pails and pools?

My female goose is always picking up sticks, putting them in water and seems to play with the sticks. And I have seen her put rocks in there too. River rock so not small pea gravel.

Thoughts as to why?
Mine do it too. IDK why, maybe it's fun for them?

Haha I always get a good laugh when that happens. I think it’s mostly them having fun. My kids leave toys around and the geese enjoy chewing them and then dropping them in the water.

I have one goose that enjoys my son’s boots. One is always getting dragged off somewhere

Aww. I always assumed they're just playing. I have an old piece of turtle shell I hide in a different place in the pasture every day. By the time I change the water, invariably that piece will wind up being in the bottom of one of the water tubs. It's one of those stupid little goose games that makes having geese so much fun.

My gander hauls everything to water to inspect and play with it. He once stole a pen out of a pant pocket of a friend of mine and then made a beeline to the water bucket, where he dipped and dropped and played with it. He loves stealing stuff.

I always find stuff in the buckets - rocks, slugs, apples, bottle caps, gloves, socks, toys.

I have an African and she loves helping me landscape. She picks through the pebbles when I'm arranging them, takes them from the bucket or my hand, drops them on the ground and goes back for more. She'll do it for the longest time

I have also found dead mice and toads but guessing that is from the ducks.
The ducks run across the yard with toads hanging out of their mouths all the time.
My black swedish caught a small mouse once and was trying to choke it down while running away from the other ducks. Was quite the sight! My pekin gal caught a frog once but it was too big for her to get down.
