I tried to soak her in warm water and push it back in gently. She's just started laying.

Did you add epsom salts to her bath? A bit of vaseline will help keep it moist as well as you gently push things back in.

Keep her in a dim, warm place for a day or two, and if you can restrict her light to less than 10 hours a day for a while, it will give her a break from laying to give her time to heal.

I didn't have epsom salt but I did warm bath and I had some coconut oil so I used that and kept pushing it back in. She's in a cat carrier in my room covered with a towel. It's dim and I crushed up oyster shell and put that with her food. They just started laying like 2 days ago. Maybe the male was stressing her out. Anyway she's inside for now to relax and hopefully pass the egg easily.

It doesn’t look too severe, more like a hemorrhoid than a severe prolapse, hopefully just a young layer and maybe a bigger egg (double Yolks are not uncommon in young birds). Keep her quiet and keep an eye on it for a couple days and prognosis is pretty good.

Yes they are young layers. Just started laying a few days ago. I ordered some crushed oyster shell for small birds and it will be here tomorrow. I crushed up my chickens oyster shell with a hammer and they already started to eat it. I had a second quail with a prolapse I found later. She looks much worse with a tube hanging out. Poor girl. I did the same. Warm bath and put coconut oil and push it in gently. They are hanging out in a cage in my room and it's pretty dim.

What are you feeding them?
