Eggbound

We had a tornado come through here and we gave a lot of our money to victims which we told our vet that's what we did so this next couple weeks were tight. Figured we could do without more than they could. The vet only said I was doing everything I could do. Nothing else was said. I'm actually surprised she hasn't broke it enough to push it out with it Sheedy slightly broken. I've felt it it is a cracked shell.

The problem with cracking the shell is that if it's done wrong the shell can cut the inside of your bird causing internal bleeding.

You did do everything that you could. The number of people who would pay for surgery on a quail are very few and far between, which is why the vet probably didn't mention it. Also, if they are not an avian vet, there is a good chance that anesthesia or other complications will kill the bird regardless.

I'm really sorry, but at this point, it's probably time to let her go and give her the quickest end you can. It won't hurt to consult your vet one more time before making the decision, though.

Oh, I get it. I'm just stating I'm surprised she hasn't done it herself. He is an exotic vet so he does know things and the only one around us. I was going to give her one more good soak but my kids have to be quiet first (which hasn't happened all day) so she doesn't get scared.

I'm so sorry!

I agree, if she's in distress in pain this long and the egg is not moving, putting her down is probably the best option.
She actually doesn't seem to be in distress or pain anymore. She kicking around, eating, trying to jump out of box, etc. No more pushing. I'm sure she's just acting like everything is fine. If I wasn't paying attention to her standing oddly, I wouldn't even notice she was eggbound with how she's moving around (especially right now). We will cull though as it's too big to come out and no other way to remove it.

Oh, not a buttom quail, she was in with a button quail to keep her separated. She is a Coturnix. It's in her abdomen. Most of time. It comes close where I can feel it with my pinky when I for to feel around for it and them it goes back down. The shell feels crackly which it didn't before she jumped onto the side of the bowl I was soaking her in. My kids yelled and scared her. She is pooping. Now she has some weird looking stuff oozing out. Hoping not the inside of the egg but the egg is closer to coming out it looks like. I have her in my bedroom in a small box. The room is cool and dark so hoping that helps. Not quiet in my house because of kids but she can't see anything.
If the egg is broken inside her, that can lead to infection. Sounds like one for the vet, I'm afraid. Don't try and solve it yourself.
