I agree with gritsar, I would cover it. Maybe 1/4" plywood.

Thanks for the advice.

I have the hens in there now, but they haven't bothered it. I'm going to buy some cheap plywood/panels and cover it up. I'm too scared to rip it out and deal with the dust.

If they do have asbestos, and they probably do, it can't be good for them and it worse for you if you try to remove it. Nail up some cheap plywood over it.
